Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide support within the organization including Corporate Finance, Corporate Financial Planning, Partnership/Investor Relations, and Financial Analysis. Potential assignments within the financial internship include:
  • Assist in the development of financial models that forecast and evaluate financial performance of prospective investment projects, corporate financings, tax considerations, and long-range corporate budgets
  • Assist in creating and updating pro forma financial models
  • Assist in the development of presentations for internal (senior management) and external use (investors, strategic partners)
  • Participate in meetings with internal and external partners
  • Perform market, industry, and company specific research, data and trend analysis

Land Development Intern

Description

Frye Development, LLC is the land development division of Frye Properties, Inc., 300 W. Freemason Street, Norfolk, Va. We are seeking a creative, qualified, motivated intern to provide support to the Vice President for Development. This internship is a great opportunity to experience land development up-close. Frye Development started in 2003 in East Beach, a 100-acre traditional neighborhood on the shores of the Chesapeake Bay in Norfolk, Va. More recently, we completed the master planning and construction of The Cavalier Residences, the premier address at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront, situated on the grounds of the historic Cavalier Hotel. We are in the beginning phases of several major projects in the Hampton Roads area. This intern should be prepared to work in a fast-paced, team environment. The successful candidate will gain invaluable experience in private business financial and accounting operations. Excellent experience for business administration majors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage the development, scope, design, approvals and implementation of infrastructure and landscaping of parks and common areas
  • Manage consultants including, but not limited to, architects, landscape architects, engineers, construction managers, and general contractors,
  • Coordinate design and installation of franchise and public utilities
  • Develop and manage development budgets for horizontal and vertical development activities, review and approve monthly construction draw requests.
  • Develop and manage schedules for all initiatives
  • Create and present status periodic reports to concerned parties - budgets, milestones, schedules
  • Manage product and material selection/shop drawings approval process
  • Maintain ongoing cost of unit prices used in road and landscape construction
  • Manage site appearance/ maintenance staff and activities
  • Act as liaison between POA manager and developer
  • Manage platting, turnover of public rights-of-way and related issues
  • Act as liaison between developer and residents on development related issues
  • Research projects related to industry trends and established practices
  • Serve on the Design Review Committee, which reviews home and residential landscaping designs
  • Perform stakeout, landscape installation and structured wiring inspections on home sites

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Experience

  • In pursuit of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university as a rising junior or senior and seeking a degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field.

The intern will focus on our new developments; however, he or she also will have the opportunity to learn about and be involved in current developments, new construction, sales, and multifamily housing.

This intern should be prepared to work in a fast-paced, team environment dealing with business operations and the real estate industry.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist with agenda development and attend staff meetings
  • Prepare information and research materials for presentations, RFQ’s and RFP’s and assist in creating, assembling, and maintaining each
  • Attend meetings with city staff or other officials when needed
  • Analyze and review information as requested
  • Draft correspondence to city staff members, partners, and others as required

  • Assist marketing and communications manager in implementing Marketing and Communications strategies to enhance Frye image and position with the marketplace and general public
